Hail Montezuma! The Hidden Treasures of San Diego State

At the entrance of the Freshmen Quad, across from the Faculty/Staff Club patio, lays a slab of flagstone which contains fossilized footprints left by a reptile from over 225,000,000 years ago.  These Triassic tracks were discovered by workmen during the construction of the Quad and verified by San Diego State geologist Baylor Brooks.  Famed alumna Marion Ross (Class of 1950) was on the Freshman Committee that approved the brass plaque.  She was a senior by the time the Freshman Quad was finished and the so-called “dinosaur stone” was installed.  The associated plaque disappeared long ago and has yet to be returned.
