In addition to being highly functional, the trolley station and Aztec Central Green is a very symbolic space.  The underground station has a variety of neon ceiling art as well as hanging sculpture.  Artist Anne Mudge created the “Taproots,” the large, frayed, stainless-steel cable art that hangs from the ceiling and creates the illusion of trees growing down into the subterranean space.  The artwork symbolizes how the university’s roots are deeply intertwined with the local community.
